11 gift ideas for your wellness clients 2020
Client gifting is a great way to show your gratitude to your client for hiring you for your services. It is a way to say thank you, make an impact, and gift them something they will love.
I was probably around 3 months into my running my business when I first heard of client gifting. And now that I have been in business since mid 2018, I have seen first hand how much gifting a client can make a positive impact in our overall interaction and flow during the time we are working together.
When to gift
I personally enjoy sending a gift to my client right after they sign the contract and pay the first invoice - so before we actually start working together. I absolutely love my client’s reactions when they receive their gift, specially because they weren’t expecting it. It starts the project on the right note.
Get personal
My clients are wellness entrepreneurs, so my gifts are always focused in health and wellness. However, I make sure to ask enough questions about my client’s background, passions and purpose during our “initial booking call” so I can get an idea of what kind of gift will warm their heart.
For example, I know that while one client might love to receive a ritual kit with stones and palo santo, another client might prefer a custom gift box with workout gear. It is important to make your gift custom to that client while still gifting them something that reflects your brand.
How much to spend
This will depend on how much your services are. When I started my business and my prices were lower, I was spending less money on my client’s gift then I am now that my services went up in price. I currently set aside about 3% of my service’s price towards the client’s gift (about $50-80). But at the end of the day, it should be an amount you feel comfortable with and that makes sense for your business budget.
Also, I have recently read that client gifts can be marked as a business expense when you do your taxes. However, I believe there is a budget limit to it. It is worth it talking to your accountant about it.
